6PM: Light Dinner (directly across the street at the First Unitarian Church)

7PM: The Story of Ferdinand (at the Footlight Club)

7:30PM: Art Sale and Silent Auction (Footlight Club parlor)

The Story of Ferdinand is a children’s book written in 1936 by Munro Leaf, illustrated by Robert Lawson.  The story’s protagonist is a bull, Ferdinand, who has no interest in bullfights.  Instead, he would prefer to smell flowers.  When in the ring, he ignores all provocation and refuses to fight.

The book was written shortly before the outbreak of the Spanish Civil war but was considered a pacifist book by Francisco Franco’s supporters.

KidsArts! students (ages 6-11) have spent months developing the script, set, costumes, and music for “The Story of Ferdinand.”  This colorful evening will celebrate creativity and uniqueness.  Light dinner is included, as is an art sale of works by local artists and a silent auction of dozens of items.

And thanks to everyone who came out for our other 2013 events, the Homemade Arcade and Minigolf Extravaganza, and the 2013 Dance-A-Thon!
